The DV Lottery (Diversity Visa)
A simple guide in plain language: who can register, how to avoid scams, and where the official site is. Exact dates and rules always come from the official site.
Important: the only official site for registration is dvprogram.state.gov. Registration is free.
Key dates
The registration period is announced each year on the official site, usually between October and November. DV-2027 Green Card Lottery: a court order says registration must open by November 1. Official dates are still pending. Register only at the official site, dvprogram.state.gov. We will update this page as soon as the dates are confirmed.
Exact dates: check the official site before you do anything. Do not rely on a date written here alone.
Who can register? (general requirements)
- Country of birth: you must be born in an eligible country for the current year. The list changes, so check it.
- Education or experience: in general a high school education or equivalent, or work experience in a qualifying occupation. See the official instructions for details.
- Families can register: your spouse and children are added to the entry according to the instructions.
I do not decide whether you are eligible. Read the official instructions, and if your situation is complicated, talk to a licensed immigration lawyer.
Registration steps in short

- Prepare your correct information (name as in your passport, date and place of birth, a photo that meets the official specifications).
- Fill in the form carefully. Mistakes can disqualify your entry.
- Save your Confirmation Number somewhere safe. Without it you cannot check the result.

I will film a step-by-step video as soon as registration opens. Subscribe to the channel to get it.
Scam warning
- Registration is free. Anyone asking for money to register or to “guarantee a win” is a scammer.
- The US government does not notify winners by email or WhatsApp. Any message saying “congratulations, you won” is fraud.
- Never give your passport number, your details or your Confirmation Number to anyone or any site other than the official one.
- Watch out for look-alike sites. Make sure the address ends in .gov.
